Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (Dutch: Nederlands-Vlaamse Accreditatieorganisatie; NVAO)
The Dutch-Flemish Accreditation Organisation-NVAO is an independent, educational bi-national accreditation organisation set up by treaty between the Dutch and Flemish governments for higher education institutions in Flanders and Netherlands. It accredits study programmes of higher education in the Flanders and the Netherlands.
National Bodies of Flemish Community in Belgium
Flemish Council of Hogescholen- VLHORA (Vlaamse Hogescholenraad)
VLHORA is the umbrella organisation of the Flemish Higher Education and mainly the University Colleges, which safeguard and advances the mutual interests of the university colleges.
Flemish Interuniversity Council (Vlaamse Interuniversitaire Raad – VLIR)
The Flemish Interuniversity Council, set up in 1976, is responsible for mutual cooperation & understanding between the Universities. It also advices the Flemish Government on higher education policy matters.
Flemish Education Council (In Dutch: de “Vlaamse Onderwijsraad” -Vlor)
The Flemish Education Council is the official advisory body on the education & training policies and procedures of the Flemish Community. It works towards improving the education and training of Flanders.
French Community National Bodies of Belgium
Council of the French Community Interuniversity (Conseil interuniversitaire de la Communaute francaise)
The Council of the French Community Interuniversity comprises of 39 members appointed by the French Community Government. It serves as an advisory in higher education policy and gives its opinions on matters related to higher education. It also encourages inter-university & inter-faculty cooperation.
General Council of High Schools (CGHE) (Conseil general des Hautes Ecoles)
The General Council of Polytechnics provides consultation on matters related to the higher education in High Schools (Hautes Ecoles).
